Hailing from Amernia herself, Director Nora Martirosyan’s first feature film ///Should the Wind Drop/// sends a solemn and sensitive homage to Armenians of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic, a breakaway state in the South Caucasus that is not internationally recognized. International auditor Alain, a Frenchman, is dispatched to audit airports in the Caucasus to approve the reopening of a facility that hasn’t operated for a long time. Edgar, a young boy from the area, wanders around the airport making suspicious deals. To Alain, an outsider, what the airport means to the locals is a total mystery. Borders have a completely different meaning to the people who live in on-going conflict and genocide, compared to what outsiders see on Google Maps. Nora Martirosyan's camera carefully captures the scenery of this barren and broken land.

Nora MARTIROSYAN

Nora Martirosyan is an artist and a film director living in France. She graduated from Art School in Yerevan, Armenia, from Le Fresnoy in Frace and from the Rijksakademie in Amsterdam. She directed several award-winning short films. She was resident of Villa Medicis, French Academy in Rome for the period of 2013/2014 and is currently teaching at Bordeaux School of Fine Arts.
